A United Launch Alliance (ULA) Atlas-V 551 rocket is scheduled to launch the MUOS-4 satellite for the U.S. NAVY from Cape Canaveral AFS Space Launch Complex-41 on August 31, with the launch window open from 6:07 a.m. EDT – 6:51 a.m. EDT. The Mobile User Objective System (MUOS) is a next-generation narrowband tactical satellite communications system designed to significantly improve ground communications for U.S. forces on the move.
MUOS-4 marks the 56th Atlas-V launch since the vehicle’s inaugural launch in 2002, and the 6th flight of the 551 configuration.
NOTE: All SpaceX launches are currently grounded while the CRS-7 accident investigation continues
